Bath Magic: Soaking in Epsom Salt
Many
of us are deficient or have low levels of magnesium. Magnesium
deficiency in the body is associated with stroke, heart disease,
osteoporosis, joint pain, arthritis, chronic fatigue, digestive
problems, and other stress related illnesses. An easy way to replace
magnesium is to soak in a bath with epsom salt.
Soaking
in epsom salts may be an old fashioned cure for aching joints and
muscles, but this time-tested, feel good cure has real benefits for the
human body. Over 325 enzymes (proteins) are regulated by magnesium.
Some of these enzymes are catalysts for important bodily functions such
as electrical impulse control, muscle control, production of enery, and
the elimination of toxins from the body. Epsom salt is a compound that
is naturally occurring and made from the elements magnesium and sulfate. Magnesium is the second most abundant element found in cells within the human body.
When
your body is deficient in this crucial substance, one of the best ways
to replace its level within the body is through soaking in a bath.
Magnesium molecules that are dissolved in water are quickly absorbed
through the pores in your skin.
